Workshop: Prompting as a Disciplinary Practice

Writing, Thinking, and Teaching with GenAI

This in-person workshop is for teaching staff who are curious about how GenAI tools like ChatGPT are shaping academic writing practices—and want space to explore this in ways that make sense for their own discipline. Instead of treating prompting as a generic skill, we’ll look at how different fields approach writing, reasoning, and inquiry—and how these norms shape (and are shaped by) the way we prompt AI tools. The workshop offers time to try out GenAI teaching activities, exchange ideas with colleagues, and reflect on whether and how AI can support meaningful learning in your subject area.

What you will gain

  • Practical GenAI-based exercises that can be adapted for your own teaching
  • A better understanding of how prompting interacts with disciplinary ways of thinking and writing
  • Ideas for supporting students in engaging critically and productively with GenAI tools

Who is this for
Aarhus University teaching staff from any discipline who are interested in exploring the role of GenAI in their field. No technical background or programming experience is required. Some basic familiarity with tools like ChatGPT or CoPilot is expected.
